It's important to note however, that we will always reserve spots for you to drop in without calling ahead, we just recommend that you come at least 15 minutes before class to make sure you get a spot!
If you do choose to pre-register, please read the following rules carefully:
A) There is no pre-registering for day-time classes during the week.
B) For evening classes during the week (5pm, 6:30pm, 8:15pm), you must call in by 3pm on the day of the class. Please do not call to pre-register after 3pm.
C) For Saturday classes, you must call by 3pm on Friday, and for Sunday classes, you must call by 3pm on Saturday to pre-register.
- As of July 1, our 1:30pm classes on Saturdays will be regular Moksha classes, and our 1:30pm classes on Sundays will be a Moksha Workshop, suitable for beginners and experienced Yogis alike!
- Prenatal Classes on Sunday evenings have been moved from 7:30-8:30pm to 8-9pm.
At Moksha Yoga North York, students of all levels and ability are honoured for their unique differences, limitations, and talents. While all classes are open to everyone, we encourage students new to Yoga to take at least 10 moksha classes before trying Power Flow. Both classes are challenging, but the Moksha classes tend to be more accessible to beginners, and really help prepare students to be more comfortable in the faster pace of a Power Flow class.
- Moksha yoga is a dynamic system of postures and breathing exercises specifically designed to be practiced in the heat. Moksha classes are intended to open, strengthen and detoxify the entire body.
- The silent class is the traditional Moksha Yoga series, practiced in silence. The class is guided, without verbal instruction, by an instructor practicing the series at the front of the room. The class allows the student to explore the depths of their own practice by providing an opportunity to investigate the sensations of the body and the breath more fully. It is a chance to really feel the practice without audiotory distraction. This class is best suited for students who are familiar with the series.
- Yin yoga is a system of yoga designed to literally open the body, peeling away layers of tension,
stress and injury that reside within. A gentle approach is used to stretch the body, using longer holds to get beyond the muscle
tissue into the connective tissue, the fascia of the body. It is a great compliment to your regular practice.
- This class will off you a great mix of Moksha and Yin, starting off with an invigorating and strengthening flow, followed by a restorative, relaxing stretch.
- Power flow stems from the vinyasa system of yoga which literally means "flowing with breath". It is a challenging class that works the body on all levels. There is creativity in the sequencing which makes the class unpredictable and a lot of fun.
- Fluid movements with strong emphasis on development of core strength- a GREAT compliment to your regular yoga practice!
- The beginner workshop, held every Sunday at 1:30pm, is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain a better understanding of the Moksha series. It's a chance to ask questions, get more hands-on adjustments, and learn modifications for poses that you find challenging. Great for new and more experienced students alike!
- This open level prenatal yoga class is designed to meet the needs of pregnancy and the new beginnings of motherhood. Come stretch your body and strengthen your uterus and pelvic floor muscles, while you improve circulation and increase overall comfort. Linking yoga postures with breath will lead you to bring awareness to the mind, body and spirit while learning relaxation techniques to help you connect with your baby in a safe, supportive environment. In your prenatal yoga class, time will be set aside to freely discuss any issues from discomforts and concerns, to the wonderful new changes your body and baby are experiencing. A steady prenatal yoga practice can help you prepare for childbirth physically, emotionally and spiritually while helping you to reduce many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, swelling, back pain and sciatica and feel nourished among a community of women sharing the experience of pregnancy and birth.
Starting Sunday February 7, our pre-natal class will be held every Sunday evening from 7:30-8:30pm. No pre-registration is required- you can use your pre-paid passes or just drop in for $18. Be sure to tell your pregnant friends, sisters, and wives about this awesome new addition!
